Favorite edition of Gamma World

What is your favorite edition of Gamma World?

I went with 2e. However, I use the basic animal archetypes from 4e and teh artifact chart from 1e in my games.

Oh, and let me add, I use the powered armor slot rules from 4e but the overall AC stats, etc from 2e.

I voted for 2nd ed. because its the only editon I own.
Unfortunately the game hasn't seen alot of use and none at all in the last 20 years. I just can't get anyone to try it out.

3e was awesome - though the act chart was unpopular it allowed for the use of the classic Marvel Super Hero Ultimate Powers book with little changing. Which gave you a massive amount of "new mutations" when you rolled that 90%!

Hmmm, that's a good idea on using Marvel with 3e. It wasn't so much that I disliked the ACT chart (I did play MSH myself) but it just didn't feel like GW to me. I guess I was a grognard even as a teen.

yep 2nd e, though I maintain the mutation charts from
1st , and the artficts from 3rd and the Treasures of the Ancients.
GM's dirty trick #1 take the % roll and crossreferance across the charts and take the best result.
cuts down on the guy who says "hmmm i'll use this set of d10s they roll high!"

I like 1st ed. It was my first non-fantasy RPG (so to speak). It is not as complete as the later editions, but I like a workable DIY system--more for me to add to, and make my own.

I am torn between 1, 2 & 4 as my favorites,m but I ultimately went with 1st edition, mainly because 2e is a re-write & addition (changes little, if anything) and can be added to 1e with few problems.

In fact, I think I have PDFs of a combined 1e/2e version of the game that are really slick. I may have to print these PDFs out eventually & bind or something special.
